Ombretta Romice
Ombretta graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Torino, Italy in 1997, gained a PhD in urban design from the University of Strathclyde in 2000, and a PostDoc in housing and neighbourhood regeneration funded by the European Union in 2003. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, University of Strathclyde where she has been working since 2000, and an associate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
She teaches and researches in the areas of urban design, spatial planning, urban morphology, environmental psychology and user participation in design. Author of several international publications and monographs, she has been keynote in Brazil, South Korea, China, Finland, South Africa, Italy and on the editorial board of several international journals. She was President of the International Association for People-Environment Studies (2008-12) where she championed the application of environment-behaviour research in design; she served on the Board of the Association of European Schools of Planning.
